The Wall Street Journal. A name when heard screams experience..reputable..news. While in fact even I used to believe that these 3 words described this horrible excuse of a news source , these words are the polar opposite of The Wall Street Journal.
Recently WSJ posted an article about Youtube’s biggest star, PewDiePie. (Felix Kjellberg) Wherein this article they made a heavy claim. A claim that forced Felix’s biggest partners to sever ties with him. The WSJ believes that Felix is a Anti-Semitic. If you aren’t sure what that means, according to Google, an anti-semitic is hostile or prejudice against jews.
Now before we dive into the inner-workings of how this article came to be, lets first dabble into the comedy world..shall we? We will start with Fox. No, not the useless excuse of a news source over at Fox and Friends, I’m talking about the Fox with ACTUAL content. This broadcast channel has been around for a long time. On this channel they have your normal local news, some drama shows, and some comedy shows. This network houses many shows from a man named Seth Macfarlane. This article is not about him so we won’t go into detail if you don’t know who he is. Although even if you don’t know who he is, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of his most successful project, Family Guy. Family Guy started in 1999. This show CONSTANTLY consists of politically incorrect jokes. In case you haven’t guessed it, this includes jokes about the Jewish religion. Fox also houses American Dad, another show from our man Seth. These shows have been on your local TV channel for a very long time, in case you were unaware. Shows like South Park have existed for even longer (1997) which push the boundaries even more, and these shows are funny. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be on TV for upwards of 17 years. And all of these shows, have made jokes about Jewish people, black people, white people, gay people, straight people, Mexican people, Canadian people, rich people, poor people, funny people, boring people, Muslim people, Russian People, Clinton People, Trump People, and really any other kind of person you can think of. And these shows are thriving. The creators haven’t lost their contracts because someone called them out on a politically incorrect joke.
So, with that in mind, lets dive back in. PewDiePie has (according to the horrible excuse of a news source WSJ) had 9 videos in the past 6 months that reference anti-semitic messages. A problem, I understand to some people who have been offended by them. He is a comedy Youtube channel. He makes people laugh, and he does that by making funny references and jokes. Period. End of story. Stand up comedy and Seth Macfarlane have been around long enough that this shouldn’t be a surprise. Anybody who takes PewDiePie’s videos seriously when he’s very obviously not being serious have more problems than anyone on the internet can help them with. Not to mention the entire article was out of context. Felix’s video and h3h3productions’ video go into much more detail than I can through a news article.
This next bit may be a conspiracy or may be reality. Unfortunately we will never know the truth. We can only assume. But there’s a few things you should be aware of. You may have heard of a Youtuber by the name of shaycarl. He is a vlogger on Youtube, he’s been on the site for almost as long as it’s existence. Recently, shaycarl has been involved in a little scandal. Very embarrassing to have a personal problem broadcasted to your entire audience. Shaycarl, a co-founder of Disney owned Maker Studios explained that these actio-….wait…co-founder of Maker Studios? The same Maker Studios that dropped PewDiePie the very next day after this scandal was brought to light about shaycarl? This can’t be…the world is not this corrupt..
EXCEPT IT IS
Maybe this has nothing to do with it, but the relation between the two situations is all to suspicious. It seems as if Disney didn’t want their image hindered by this scandal, so instead of dealing with the problem head on they created a distraction by making a big deal out of a not-so-big deal wherein they attempted to destroy another Youtubers career. A Youtuber they worked with for a long time.
But for the sake of argument, lets say that situation we just went over is not true. So the only other possibility is that it is a huge publicity stunt. The Wall Street Journal needed a story. Mainstream media as we all know hates PewDiePie or any independent influencer for that matter. So they always look for ways to discredit them. As the history of comedy has shown us, it pushes the boundaries. Comedy is politically incorrect, because comedy that isn’t, isn’t funny. Very few people take PewDiePie’s humor seriously and the small percentage of people that do, are journalists writing articles about jokes they didn’t like.
Some journalists don’t give a flying fuck about context, they just want a good title. Because the title, for a reason that I can only attribute to money, is the only thing you see on WSJ’s website before you have to pay them money to read their useless articles. All of the normal consumers read this title, read the article, and believe every single little word these embarrassing excuse for journalists shit onto the page. Unfortunately this is the norm for the media nowadays. Unless we who understand the corruption in this world make people aware of this problem it will never go away. True, real information will be withheld from the people until we are all obliterated from our own evils. Because the “news outlets” who have the responsibility to inform the people, instead choose to inform their pockets.
WSJ, your second reason in your “Why Subscribe” section of your website says AND I FUCKING QUOTE “Enjoy a WSJ subscription and get global and local news coverage anytime, anywhere, from the source you trust.” Well, you guys must have pretty shitty marriages if this is what you consider being trustworthy. This is not how you build trust. Trust comes from consistently telling the truth. Which you have failed to do in this case. You have instead created a false reality to hurt an influencer that you are scared of. You have consciously lied to create a news story for money. If you want to gain even an inkling of the reputability that you have lost in this stunt you would realize your hypocrisy and publicly apologize. But instead, you approach Felix and offer a “platform” to defend himself. Which in turn will make you more money by hosting his response on your website. You are truly greedy, distrustful pieces of shit.
